Christie Clinic's laboratory underwent an unannounced on-site inspection by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) recently. During the daylong inspection, the team examined the lab's records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. The team also looked into the entire staff's qualifications; the lab's equipment, facilities, safety program, and records, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. This inspection program is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory's patients.

The laboratory director, Krishnarao Tangella, MD, MBA, FCAP, was advised that the inspection went extremely well. The laboratory staff was congratulated for an outstanding job in maintaining these rigorous standards and for being so well organized.

Christie Clinic is one of more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide. The CAP is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program.
