CHAMPAIGN, IL – Christie Clinic announced at a press conference today their plans to construct a new medical facility in northwest Champaign near the intersection of Interstates 57 and 74. The campus will be home to many of Christie Clinic’s specialty physicians’ offices, as well as the newly proposed Ambulatory Surgery Center.

“We are really excited about this new era for Christie Clinic,” said Alan Gleghorn, Christie Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer. “This state-of-the-art medical facility will help us offer the highest level of medical care and give patients more choices for their healthcare.”

Christie Clinic has chosen to expand into northwest Champaign, supporting the city’s current plan for growth. The location, at the intersection of two busy interstates, will improve healthcare access for residents of central Illinois.

The new Christie Clinic location will house all of the services that are currently located at Christie Clinic’s facility on University Avenue. Additionally, the new facility will have enough space for 15-20 new physicians, a new Convenient Care location, drive-up pharmacy, and the new Christie Musculoskeletal Institute. Christie also plans to have an Ambulatory Surgery Center on the new medical campus where Christie physicians will be able to perform outpatient surgical procedures.

“This expansion will help Christie Clinic provide medical services more efficiently, with shorter wait times, lower costs, and continuity of care for our current and future patients,” said Dr. William L. Pierce, DPM, Christie Clinic Board Chairman. “It will also help us continue to recruit and retain the best and brightest physicians and clinic employees.”

Groundbreaking on the new location will take place this fall, with plans to begin seeing patients at the new campus in spring 2008. Christie Clinic will continue seeing patients at the University location until the new facility is completed.

Christie Clinic plans to sell their property on University Avenue to the Atkins Group, which plans to continue the re-birth of downtown Champaign.

Christie Clinic has provided health care to the residents of central Illinois for more than 75 years. It is the oldest multi-specialty medical group practice in central Illinois.
