CHAMPAIGN, IL—Christie Clinic announced the grand opening of its new comprehensive cancer treatment center at its main campus on University Avenue.

Christie broke ground in November and will begin treating patients at the new facility today.

"We created this cancer center so we could offer our patients the best possible treatment at one convenient location,” said Alan Gleghorn, Christie Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer. “Christie Clinic medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons are located on the same campus.”

The Christie Clinic Cancer Center brings the most advanced cancer treatments to central Illinois with new linear accelerator technology that directly targets cancerous tissue. It provides a more efficient dose of radiation to unhealthy tissue so patients experience fewer side effects and less damage to healthy tissue.

The Christie Clinic Cancer Center was modeled after the Mayo Clinic facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. Providers at the Christie Clinic Cancer Center treat all forms of cancer and will also accept non-Christie patients. The new facility offers comprehensive services, including cancer screenings, clinical trials, and cancer education for patients and family members. Christie Clinic will continue to add more services as the cancer center grows.

Christie Clinic has provided health care to the residents of central Illinois for more than 75 years. It is the oldest multi-specialty medical group practice in central Illinois.
