On October 14, Christie Clinic invites the community to celebrate the first annual World Spirometry Day at Christie on Windsor, 1801 West Windsor Road, Champaign. The event will be held in the 2^nd floor education room from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. An ice cream social will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Attendees will receive free spirometry tests, also called lung function screenings, and lung health information from local vendors. They can also enter to win door prizes, including a complete pulmonary function test valued at $800.

World Spirometry Day aims to encourage people to get their lungs tested for an early indication of diseases such as asthma, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Christie Clinic’s goal is to educate the community on existing conditions, teach attendees how to lower their risk of developing a lung condition, and help them learn how to treat it if they are diagnosed.
