Successful 25th Annual Run for the Health of It

April 12, 2008

More than 600 volunteers, racers, and sponsors helped raise an incredible $20,000 for Larkin's Place at the 25th annual Christie Clinic Run for the Health of It Saturday, April 12.

Larkin's Place is a community collaboration effort with the Champaign and Urbana Park Districts to create a recreational community center with an attitude: Everyone is welcome, respected, and valued. The center will offer something for all ages, including play areas, a full-size gym, a weight room, classrooms and multi-purpose rooms, and a café.

At this year's Run for the Health of It, walkers, runners, and wheelchair racers competed in 5K and 10K races. Competitors and their families enjoyed entertainment including a Kids Activity Fair, BBQ from Coach's Cooking Team, and music from hit local '80s band The Brat Pack.

The Run is the largest premier racing event in Central Illinois.
