A man stopped him and asked him why he was doing this as there were so many starfish and he couldn’t possibly make a difference. At that point the boy bent down and gently tossed another starfish into the ocean and stated, ‘I made a difference for that one!’ I want to make a difference in the lives of the women and families I see."

  • Why I became a nurse?
    “I have wanted to be a nurse/educator since I was a little girl. Becoming a nurse practitioner was a perfect fit for me. I developed a passion for women and children’s care as a labor and delivery and maternal life flight nurse at St.Francis. This was further fueled during grad school at the University of Illinois as I worked with midwives, pediatricians, and obstetricians.”

    As a nurse practitioner in Christie Clinic’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kathryn specializes in providing primary health care for women. In collaboration with department physicians, Kathryn performs routine gynecologic examinations, evaluates and treats minor illnesses, and provides routine prenatal and postpartum care. She also has a special interest in perinatal nursing.

    In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her husband, two little girls, and their extended family. She loves most things Disney and Longaberger baskets.
