Get to know Joseph Keeley

  “I have been working with children since my early teens when I began volunteering at the local YMCA. I assisted in swimming programs for both typical children and children with disabilities. Joseph Baublis, MD, a pediatrician, was chairman of the swim team board and convinced me to apply to medical school and was later my mentor as a resident.”

  In the Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Keeley evaluates and treats children with a variety of developmental problems including ADHD, autistic spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and cognitive disorders. He is one of only four pediatricians in Illinois board certified in neurodevelopmental pediatrics.

• Personal
  Dr. Keeley is very involved with children’s literature and literacy issues. He can recite many classics by heart. He strongly believes that active involvement with literature books and storytelling can improve both school performance and behavior. He has been married to his wife, Linda, for nearly 40 years, and they have four children: Brendan is a restaurant manager in Ann Arbor, MI; Eileen is a prosecuting attorney in Miami, FL; Alison is a law student; and Sarah is in high school.
