Get to know Katy Scheiding

• Why I Became A Nurse
  "I think some people are born with a natural passion for caring for others, and I believe this is what led me to nursing. I believe serving patients is about more than just caring for the illness, but about serving the entire patient and family system in a holistic manner. I come from a large extended family, and I want my patients to feel that I care for them as I would for any member of my own. The impact a healthcare provider can have on one patient or family's life is a tremendous honor with a great responsibility."

• Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  As a nurse practitioner in Christie Clinic's Department of Obstetrics and Gyencology, Katy specializes in providing primary healthcare for women. In collaboration with department physicians, Katy performs routine gynecologic examinations, evaluates and treats minor illnesses, and provides routine prenatal and postpartum care.

• Personal
  Katy enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Wyatt, and their two sons, John and Ethan. They are antcipating the birth of another son in December, 2011. Katy is proud to have been raised in the Champaign-Urbana area by loving and devoted parents and looks forward to serving this incredible community.
