  “My mother had 12 children. I am her eldest child. Her obstetrician was our next door neighbor. I often tell my patients that I would rather deliver 12 children than have 12 children.”

  In the Department of OB/GYN, Dr. Nelson provides care and advice for women from puberty through adulthood. In addition to providing physical examinations, breast examinations, and pap smears, she helps patients with family planning decisions and birth options and cares for them during pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause.

  Dr. Nelson and her husband, Bill, have four children: Maria, Milee, Liam, and Madeleine. She enjoys running with a group of women, cycling, swimming, and skiing. Her entire family participated in the 2010 Illinois Marathon.
