The 2013 Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon, scheduled for April 25-27, will require more than 3,000 volunteer team members for a safe, fun event for the runners. Online volunteer sign-up is now open with hopes to fill all volunteer spots by March 30. This will allow adequate time to prepare and train the volunteers. Those interested are urged to register early to guarantee their favorite position.
According to Volunteer Coordinator, Mary Anderson, “The volunteer experience is truly a rewarding one. Volunteering for an event that hosts 20,000 runners is the ultimate way to represent CU and what our community is all about. Imagine running the course for the first time, witnessing a course lined with friendly faces in TEAM shirts, and knowing those cheering volunteers are the reason you finished the race. That is how runners from all over the country feel when they run the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon, and that is why the runners come back. As a volunteer, you get to be a part of it.”
Anyone (over the age of 16) interested in volunteering should visit www.illinoismarathon.com. Click on the Volunteer tab and then the Join Our Course Team link. The list of available course team jobs is listed on this page. There is a separate link—Join Our Volunteer Team—for the non-course team jobs.
All volunteers receive the official Team shirt and a keepsake drawstring backpack.
