CHAMPAIGN, IL—— Dr. Shawn Love from the Christie Clinic Department of Orthopaedics will be the chief speaker and moderator at a presentation on Dyslexia and A Parent’s Quest. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Urbana Free Library Auditorium located at 210 W. Green Street. It is free to attend.
Dr. Love is an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Christie Clinic. Her daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia, so this is a group and topic she feels very passionate about. Dr. Love will share the beginning of her eye-opening journey for the beginnings of a Dyslexia support group for parents of dyslexic children.
This Dyslexia support group, LEAP (Linking Educators and Parents) is for parents and professionals in East Central Illinois who are interested in the study of methods and strategies that help young children with reading disabilities. The group of parents, teachers and other professionals also study new ways to deal with the frustrations and tensions that so often accompany Dyslexia and other learning differences.
The LEAP support group was coordinated by Marilyn Kay. Marilyn is also the founder and former director of the The Reading Group, a not-for profit reading clinic. The LEAP group will meet 3 times during the summer at the Urbana Free Public Library from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Dates will be confirmed in the future.
For more information about the LEAP group or the event on Tuesday, May 1, please contact Marilyn Kay at 217.367.0398 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
