What to Expect

When you receive an email sent from your MyChart patient portal for things like appointment reminders and portal activation notices, these are encrypted. In most cases, you will not see any difference in how these emails look or in how you view them. However, there are some cases where you may need to take a few extra steps to access the email. These steps include:

  • When you get an encrypted email through Microsoft Purview Message Encryption, you’ll see the email notification displayed below:

  • To view the encrypted email, click “Read secure message” and it’ll bring you to the following page displayed below:

  • Next, click “Sign in with a One-time passcode” and you’ll get the following email with a one-time passcode from ‘MicrosoftOffice365@messaging.microsoft.com’:

  • Once the steps above are complete, you can view and respond to the encrypted email:
