  • Are a current or past smoker
  • Are overweight or live a sedentary lifestyle

Good candidates for limb preservation include those who:

  • Have leg or feet sores, wounds or ulcers that won’t heal
  • Notice pain, tightening or cramping of the leg or buttock muscles after walking a short distance
  • Are told they need an amputation
