I got into healthcare to be able to give back to my community and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I chose to specialize in family medicine because it was the one specialty that gave me the opportunity to build lifetime, long-lasting relationships with my patients, and slots me to practice in all the lengths and breadths of medicine that interest me from pediatrics to women's health to adults and geriatric health.
In the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Peters Hood provides comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, with a special interest in women's health. She is passionate about building lasting relationships with her patients and delivering personalized, patient-centered care throughout every stage of life.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, trying out new recipes and enjoying different cuisines and restaurants. I also enjoy nature, bowling, painting and swimming.

I came to East Central Illinois because I wanted to be able to start my next chapter in Family Medicine in a community where I can actually get to know my patients and build long-term relationships. I hope when patients leave my office, they feel like they not only have met a new doctor who will help take care of them, but also a new champion and cheerleader for their health and wellness.
